Be Inkluded
Be Inkluded is our enhanced Internship Program.
This program takes our standard internship/volunteer program a step further, by providing undergraduate and graduate students partial DSP (Direct Service Provider) training. DSP training offers students specialized instruction in professional practices for working with individuals with special needs.
Students can apply for this program as either a Visual Arts Facilitator or Textile Arts Facilitator.
As a Visual Arts Facilitator, students will work directly with artists with developmental disabilities to create artwork for upcoming exhibitions. This position is ideal for students with experience in studio art, illustration, design, art therapy, or art education. Duties include: assisting the artists in our studio in developing and completing their art projects, encouraging them to explore a wide range of art making materials and processes, and assisting in preparing artwork for exhibition.
As a Textile Arts Facilitator, students will work directly with artists with developmental disabilities to create unique hand-made items for retail sale. This position is ideal for students with intermediate to advanced sewing and pattern-making skills, experience in textile design, fashion design, quilting, fiber arts, or other related skills. Duties include: assisting the artists in our studio in developing patterns and product samples, encouraging them to explore a wide range of materials and techniques, and assisting them in completing their projects and sewing finished pieces for retail.
